Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Crocheting the Pastel Green Base

  1. Foundation: Using the pastel green yarn, chain (ch) a length that matches the width of your phone, adding 2 extra chains for a comfortable seam allowance (usually 35 to 40 chains). Work a single crochet (sc) into each stitch across.

  2. Building Height: Chain 1 and turn your work. Continue working rows of single crochets until the rectangle is tall enough to completely cover your phone (approximately 30-40 rows).

  3. Seaming: Fold your pastel green rectangle in half lengthwise. Single crochet or slip stitch down the two open sides to close the pouch, leaving the top open. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Step 2: Crafting the Bumblebee

  1. Body (Yellow & Black): Starting with yellow yarn, chain 6.

    • Row 1: Sc across (5 sts).

    • Row 2 (Black): Switch to black yarn, ch 1, turn. Inc in the first st, sc in next 3 sts, inc in the last st (7 sts).

    • Row 3 (Yellow): Switch to yellow, ch 1, turn. Sc across.

    • Row 4 (Black): Switch to black, ch 1, turn. Sc across.

    • Row 5 (Yellow): Switch to yellow, ch 1, turn. Dec over first 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts, dec over last 2 sts (5 sts). Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

  2. Wings (White): Chain 4. Work 1 hdc and 2 dc into the second chain from the hook, ch 2, and sl st back into the same space to create a small rounded wing. Make two of these and sew them to the top of the bee's body.

  3. Details: Use black yarn and your tapestry needle to stitch two tiny antennae at the top of the yellow head.

Step 3: Creating the Daisies

  1. Flower Centers (Yellow): Create a magic ring, work 5 sc into the ring, and pull tight. Slip stitch to join and fasten off. (Make 3 of these).

  2. Petals (White): Attach white yarn to any stitch on the yellow center. Chain 3, sl st back into the same stitch, sl st into the next stitch. Repeat from * around to create tiny, looped petals.

  3. Make 3 complete daisies in varying sizes by slightly adjusting your hook size or yarn tension.

Step 4: Assembly

  1. Lay your phone case flat. Arrange the bumblebee in the center or slightly off to the top right.

  2. Place the 3 daisies around the bee as if it is buzzing toward them.

  3. Use your tapestry needle and matching yarn tails to carefully sew the appliqués onto the front layer of the phone case (be sure not to sew the pouch shut!).

  4. Weave in any remaining ends.

Enjoy your buzzing new phone accessory!
