Materials You Will Need
Chunky or super bulky weight yarn (Size 6) in the following colors:

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. The Main Body & Head (Brown Yarn)
We will create the head and body in one continuous, squishy piece, starting from the top of the head.
Round 1: Make a magic ring and work 6 sc into it. (6)
Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (12)
Round 3: 1 sc, inc - repeat around. (18)
Round 4: 2 sc, inc - repeat around. (24)
Round 5: 3 sc, inc - repeat around. (30)
Rounds 6-12: Sc in each stitch around for 7 rounds. (30)
Note: Insert your safety eyes between rounds 7 and 8, about 5 stitches apart. We will add the fluffy hair over them later!
Round 13: 3 sc, dec - repeat around. (24)
Round 14: 2 sc, dec - repeat around. (18)
Stuff the body firmly with fiberfill!
Round 15: 1 sc, dec - repeat around. (12)
Round 16: Dec around. (6) Fasten off, weave the tail through the remaining stitches, and pull tight to close the bottom base.
2. The Snout (Beige Yarn)
Round 1: Chain 6. Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook, work 4 sc. Work 3 sc into the last chain. Working down the opposite side of the chain, work 3 sc, and 2 sc into the last chain. (12)
Round 2: Inc in the first st, 3 sc, inc in next 3 sts, 3 sc, inc in last 2 sts. (18)
Round 3: Sc in each stitch around. (18)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Lightly stuff the snout and sew it directly centered just below the safety eyes.
3. The Horns & Ears (Make 2 of each)
Horns (Beige Yarn): Make a magic ring with 4 sc. Round 2: 1 sc, inc twice (6). Round 3: sc around (6). Fasten off and sew to the top corners of the head.
Ears (Brown Yarn): Chain 4. Sl st in the 2nd chain from the hook, sc in the next, hdc in the last. Fasten off and sew just below the horns.
4. The Fluffy Hair (Brown Yarn)
This is what makes it a Highland cow!
Cut several 4-inch strands of your brown chunky yarn.
Using your crochet hook, pull the center of a strand through a stitch directly above the eyes to create a loop. Pull the two ends of the strand through the loop and pull tight (this is exactly like attaching a fringe to a scarf).
Repeat this across the forehead until your cow has a thick, shaggy fringe covering the top of its head. You can carefully trim the yarn ends so they rest just above the eyes!
